SUS 420J2,The carbon content of 420 steel is less than 0.35 and the hardness obtained by heat treatment is only HRc 52-55, while the resistance to damage and other properties are not so outstanding. Because it is easier to cut and grind, it is suitable for use in mass-produced factory tools. 420 steel is also ideal for diving tools because of its low carbon content and excellent rust resistance.420J2, also known as 3Cr13, is a martensitic stainless steel, which is used after quenching and tempering. Compared to 1Cr13 and 2Cr13 steel, it has higher strength, hardness and hardenability, but its corrosion resistance and thermal stability below 700°C is lower than 1Cr13 and 2Cr13 steel. Cold working properties and welding properties are not good and should be heat treated immediately after welding to prevent cracking. In the annealed condition it has good cutting properties.
