Electrolytic polishing is a process that cleans the surface of stainless steel plates, helping to reduce surface roughness and improve product characteristics. Electrolytic polishing in stainless steel plate fabrication is based on electrolysis, using electric current, sulfuric acid solution and orthophosphate as electrolyte in the electrolysis process. Electrolytic polishing takes very little time, generally within 20 minutes, the size of the time depends on the size and shape of the workpiece.
An electric current is applied to the workpiece in a specific electrolyte, in sharp contrast to the function of electroplating, where metal ions are deposited from solution and then added to the workpiece, which is thus processed to release metal ions into solution.
